home_largephone-1 home_largephone-2The SmartIntake application is used help people understand how much energy (calories) and nutrients are in the foods that they eat. The app is used to take a picture of foods before and after meals. The images are then analyzed to estimate the number of calories and nutrients in the meal. The analysis relies on a validated procedure and can accurately estimate food intake. The app includes the ability to scan a product’s UPC code and then uses that code to retrieve nutritional data about the product from an on-board database. You can also enter in fruits and vegetables from their PLU code, which returns nutritional information for the given food item.

NOTE: This app is not available to the general public; it is privately distributed through Apple’s B2B (business-to-business) distribution license to specific users, as well as privately distributed in a similar fashion for Android users.
